Continuing the Legacy

The goals of the Lewis Cemetery Committee start with preserving the land where our loved ones are laid to rest. Are plans not only include the upkeep of the grave sights, but to also offer a more purposeful and long lasting space for those of us blessed to see another day, can come and visit and reminisce about our deceased family members and friends in a safe and well  manicured cemetery space.

Here is a list of future endeavors we hope to accomplish through your donations and volunteer efforts:

Short-Term Goals

• Have all graves marked with proper identification of some kind
• Create/Acknowledge a permanent crew for cemetery cleaning and mowing.
• Encourage more family members to purchase tombstones for their loved ones if they have the means and have not done so, already

Long-Term Goals

• Have a fence constructed round the perimeter of the cemetery in it's entirety
• Improve the paved entrance to the cemetery
• Develop a landscape plan to properly identify and mark buried caskets for proper cemetery mapping
• Have permanent signage/arch gateway constructed and placed at the entrance of the cemetery for easier identification

Completed Goals as of July 2021

• Established a Lewis Cemetery Committee and assign board members to help organize committee efforts
• Established a Lewis Cemetery Fund which allows friends and family to contribute money i memory and name of their loved ones and any other donations
• Properly filed and recorded a Warranty Deed in the name of Lewis Cemetery, with a legal description that shows us detailed boundaries of the cemetery
